Messenger Model
Sometimes a tournament will require a cavalry messenger model. This is what I came up with. A plastic ungor mounted on a boar that was converted into a tuskgor. The smashed pumpkin was a bit of an inside joke to pick on Domus, and his pumpkin themed Wood Elves.
Objective Marker
Another thing that tourneys sometimes require is an objective marker. This is mine. It is on a 40mm base.
Shard of the Herdstone
This is a terrain piece to represent the Shard of the Herdstone magical item. It gives a boat-load of extra casting dice, and has seen quite a bit of use! It's made out of hacked up Apoxie Sculpt, and based on a 40mm round base.
Terrain
Here's the Beastmen themed terrain that I've made. There is one large herdstone, four small herdstones, and two different types of trees. The herdstones are made from pink insulation foam; it was glued together then cut up with a hot wire cutter. They are based on hardboard. The trees are from Menards, for the Christmas diaramas. I scooped a ton of them up for cheap during the after Christmas sales. I had to rebase them all on 40mm bases, and gravel/paint the bases to match the army.
Army Display Board
Here's the display board for the army. It's a piece of hardboard, and three layers of pink insulation board for the various hill levels. The insulation board was placed on one layer at a time, and glued down with construction adhesive. The nameplate was made at a local trophy shop for under $10. The cliff in the back corner is more pink insulation board, and is magneted on with rare earth magnets. All the trees are also magneted on with rare earth magnets. Before I did that, I could barely get them to stand up! The whole thing was painted to match the bases of the army.
Army Transport
This section is to show how I handle storage and transport of the army.
It's all based on galvanized steel sheets, and little rare earth magnets.
The steel comes in rolls from the roofing section at Menards, and the magnets came from eBay and a few other random web sites. Every model in the army has had
one or more rare earth magnets added under its base with brown Apoxie Sculpt and super glue.
The army movement trays are made from balsa wood. They have the same sheet metal attached to the top, and I drilled shallow holes into the bottom so
I could put rare earth magnets in. The regiment shown in the pics here is the metal Centigor. You can
see from the upside-down pic that these babies are held tight.
For storing and transporting the army, I use 2 plastic storage bins that I bought at ShopKo. I scratched up the bottoms of them, then used
construction adhesive to line the bottoms with the same galvanized steel sheeting. These cases
keep everything secure, nothing gets scratched, and it only takes a few minutes to be ready for a game!
