Bestigor
As you can see they're a cross between the Beastmen Gor models, and the Chaos Warrior models. These fellas take about 1.5 to 2 hours each of conversion time. The putty work is filler behind the gor legs, fur to fill gaps on the shoulders, and some work to make the weapons come together right. They are all plastic, done before the good looking plastic GW bestigor models came out, and before GW released the great weapon bitz packs for the Chaos Warrior kit.
Update: I added 6 more Bestigor to the unit. They're now 30 strong. The new additons took 6.8 hours each to
paint, and about 1.5 hours each to convert. Yikes, I should really stop keeping close time on how long these
projects take me...
You can get some real detailed info on them here:
Bestigor Conversions.
Minotaur
There are 3 units of minos here. 2 units are 6 strong, have full commands, and are armed with 2 hand weapons. The third unit is 4 strong, and is armed with great weapons. These guys are all converted, beyond the obvious weapon swaps and mutations. I have sculpted hooves on all the ones that had feet originally. Their heads were lifted up to the top of their shoulders, instead of jutting out forward from the top of their chests. Then the neck was properly filled with fur/muscle.
Centigor
Here are my 2 units of 6 Centigor. Sometimes they get fielded as a single unit of 12, but there's only one command group painted. They have all been converted by hacking off the little crappy buckler shield that they had, and adding a plastic shield from the old gor/ungor combo box set. They've also all had some kind of trophy or another added to them.
Razorgor
These guys were originally Dragon Ogres, but now are used as Razorgor. That's why I made the extended 50mm bases for them. I didn't care too much for the GW Dragon Ogres, so here's what I came up with. These boys took a ton of effort, but I'm very happy with the results. You can see from the greens that there was quite a bit of customization. They were built from the old metal Dragon Ogre bodies, plastic ogre bodies/arms/heads, plasticard for the weapons, and a load of green stuff.
Harpies
Here we have the only ladies in the army. There are 2 units of 5. They are made from the bodies, heads, legs, and arms from the plastic Daemonettes; wings from 40K Tyranid Gargoyles; green stuff; and Apoxie Sculpt. The legs were repositioned to make them actually look like they're landing or taking off. The wings were attached with green stuff and super glue. Once dry, they were puttied up to make the muscles and skin look right. The bases were built up with Apoxie Sculpt for a more dramatic look. The only real problem with these girls model-wise is the flimsy ankles. I had to use the toothpicks on the base to help support them on a few of them. They're pretty solid now. Paintwise, the skin colors are all blacks and blue-greys for a supernatural look. The blues and turquoises are there to match the rest of the army.
Razorgors & Razorgor Chariots
You can see more pics of these guys under construction in the Bull Ogre gallery (see link at top). These double as Razorgor Chariots, and solo or units of Razorgor. The solo razorgors get stuck on 50mm bases that have been finished up to fit them.
